I am in need of the shade of a friend, who could be easily content and satisfied if I am upset with him
ואני למחתאג אלי צִׄל צאחב ירוק [וי]צפו אן כדרת עליה (وَإنّي لمحتاج إلى ظِلّ صاحِبٍ، يَرُوقُ وَيَصْفُو، إنْ كدِرْتُ علَيْهِ)
He said while singing: He used to extend his hand [give alms] even if he
وقال يغني تعوّد بسط الكف حتى لو انه
God curse a people that when you bring them hidden words of truth…
לֲחא אללה קומאً اذا جيئتهم בצדק אלאחאדית (لَحا اللَهُ قَوماً إِذا جِئتَهُم بِصِـدقِ الأَحاديثِ )
O ego, beware, and don’t be deceived: by inclining to that which is ugly, you shall sever
يا نفس اياك ان وتنخدعي : بالميل نحو القبيح تنقطعي (יא נפס איאך אן ותנכדעי : באלמיל נחו אלקביח תנקטעי )
It is for seeking nearness and worship
هو ال تقرب وال عباده (הוא אל תקרב ואל עבאדה)
the first of them would like a third of it
فأولهم يريد الثلث منها (פאולהם יריד אלתלת מנהא )
If a person did not wear clothes of ‘Godliness’
إِذا المَرءُ لَم يَلبَس ثِياباً مِنَ التُقى
If you do not have control on your tongue it will be humiliated by its saying, which could harm your saver.
لسانك اد لم تصونه جاك متهان بقوله تصيب من ينجيك (לסאנך אד לם תצונה גאך מאתהאן בקולה תציב מן ינגיך)
The unclear discourse is caused by awkward prose system
وإنما صعوبة الكلام . يكون من رداءة النظام (ואנמא צעובה אלכלאם . יכון מן רדאה אלנטאם)
I offer my true advice to anyone who reads books
وأنني اشير بالصواب على الدي ينظر في كتاب (ואנני אשיר באלצואב עלי אלד ינטׄר פי כתאב)
for anyone knows the truth he must keep silent if he fears lying
([א]ן מֿן יערִף אלחק יגׄב עליה אן יצמת אן כׄאף אלכדׄב′) ان مَن يعّرِف الحق يجب عليه أن يصمت ان خاف الكذبَ
(I swear) by your life that the sword, the brave’s sword, is not more fearsome than an author’s pen
لعمرُك ما السيفُ سيف الكميِّ بـأخــوفَ مـن قـلم الكاتِـبِ
In four (pieces) it comes folded to you as if it were a cheek placed upon a cheek
بأرلعة جائتك مثنية كأنها خد على خد
An ink like raven’s feather, a paper like a bright mirage
سواد مثل خافية الغراب
He is well-acquainted with all consequences as if he listens or sees hidden assumptions
عليـم بأَعـقاب الأُمور كأَنه
A curved quill like a pigeon beak observes knowledge from his teacher
قلم كَخرطوم الحمامة ماثل مستحفظ للعلم من علامه
